Peacekeepers destroyed unexploded rockets in Boali. Deminers from the Indonesian Engineering Company of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (Minusca) and the United Nations Mine Action Unit ( UNMAS) proceeded in the commune of Boali, to the destruction of unexploded rockets, discovered by a team from the Ministry of Telecommunications. At the request of the Central African authorities, the mission requested the intervention of specialized teams of the Force in the matter, informs this Friday the Minusca. In Boali, 95 km north-west of Bangui, as part of the Central African fiber optic backbone project, a team from the Ministry of Telecommunications discovered unexploded rockets, thus halting the work started some time ago. little, in various localities of the Central African Republic, with the aim of opening up the country’s digital isolation. At the request of the Central African authorities, during a meeting with the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mankeur Ndiaye, and in consultation with the Force Commander, General Daniel Sidiki Traore, a reconnaissance team was sent to the premises on Friday, March 18, 2022, in order to assess the situation. The next day, a team made up of explosive ordnance disposal specialists from the Indonesian engineering company and UNMAS returned to Boali to destroy the rockets found in order to allow the resumption of fiber optic installation work. Claude KODJO, expert from the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) explains: “With the Force we always work hand in hand. We provide technical support, advice and ensure coordination with the national authorities for the success of this type of action”.
