In a written reply to voters of An Giang province regarding the proposal to invest in building a bypass of National Highway 91 (NH) 91 section through Cai Dau town (Chau Phu district), the Ministry of Transport said that Highway 91 is currently being invested basically according to regulations. plan approved by the Prime Minister. Besides, because along NH91, the population density on both sides of the route is large, leading to investment in expansion will be very difficult and ineffective.

Therefore, in order to create a driving force for the development of An Giang province in particular, the provinces of the Mekong Delta in general and to solve the transportation needs on National Highway 91, the Ministry of Transport has reported and approved the supplement by the Prime Minister. Expressway section Chau Doc – Can Tho – Soc Trang (Tran De) runs parallel to National Highway 91 to the west regarding 10 km – 15 km.

On June 16, 2022, the National Assembly issued Resolution 60/2022 on the investment policy of the Chau Doc – Can Tho – Soc Trang expressway construction investment project, phase 1 with a length of more than 188 km. 4 provinces, cities An Giang, Hau Giang, Can Tho and Soc Trang. The project has a total investment of regarding 44,691 billion VND, using state budget capital. The implementation period is from 2022 to 2027.

Implementing the resolution of the National Assembly, the Government has assigned the People’s Committees of the above provinces to exercise the authority of the investment deciders, to organize the formulation, appraisal and approval of component projects that are decentralized by the Prime Minister as the basis for the implementation of the National Assembly’s resolution. governing body.

Therefore, it is proposed that An Giang province direct relevant units to urgently implement and meet the project schedule. After the project is put into operation, National Highway 91 will only serve local vehicles and will reduce the traffic on Highway 91, passing through Cai Dau town.

In order to ensure a smooth route, the Ministry of Transport acknowledges voters’ recommendations and will continue to direct the Vietnam Road Administration to review, evaluate and strengthen the maintenance of National Highway 91 to meet the travel needs of the people. and ensure traffic safety on the route.
