On April 20, 2022, Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Health (MOPH) presided over the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the elimination of hepatitis between Dr. Kiatpoom Wong. Mr. Anutin revealed that the MoPH has given importance to eliminating hepatitis from Thailand. The goal is to achieve this by 2030, which requires the participation of relevant sectors in driving quality and equitable health promotion and disease prevention. The local government organization is regarded as the agency that plays an important role in providing public services to people in the area. according to the policy of decentralization in health
In this regard, according to the signing of the memorandum of understanding, the MOPH and UTC will coordinate cooperation in both policy and and systematic elimination of concomitant hepatitis. Human resources and local budgets are mobilized for maximum efficiency. along with promoting and supporting the creation of knowledge and understanding of health protection method public care and control of hepatitis as well as increasing access to effective screening tests, drugs and treatments.
Dr. Kiatpoom said that at present, there are 2.2 million people in Thailand who are chronically infected with hepatitis B and 800,000 people are infected with hepatitis C. Hepatitis, cirrhosis, and subsequent liver cancer and is a major cause of illness and death

Mr Chaiwat said that the Department of Local Administration, UT is ready to provide support in all dimensions, such as screening for infection. referring patients to the treatment system including promoting the participation of civil society in public health to jointly eliminate local hepatitis and lead to the elimination of hepatitis completely from Thailand by 2030 as the goal was finally set.
