The Ministry of Employment and Labor formed the Central Industrial Accident Management Headquarters to deal with an explosion that occurred on the 30th at a pharmaceutical company in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do, killing one person and injuring 17 others.

Earlier, at 2:22 pm on the same day, a large fire caused by an explosion at Hwail Pharmaceutical in Hyangnam-eup, Hwaseong-si, occurred, killing one person and injuring 17 others.

The casualties were all chemical workers.

Four of the injured suffered serious injuries, including head injuries, and the remaining 13 were reported to have suffered minor injuries, such as breathing in smoke.

Meanwhile, the Serious Accident Punishment Act, which came into effect on January 27, this year, is a business owner/manager who fails to fulfill his/her duty to prevent accidents if an industrial accident such as the death of a worker occurs at a workplace with 50 or more full-time workers (construction cost of 5 billion won or more in the construction industry). be punished by imprisonment for not less than one year or a fine not exceeding 1 billion won.
