The Ministry of Interior decided to hold partial elections to fill vacant positions in 73 territorial communities distributed among 34 prefectures and regions in the Kingdom.
According to a decision issued by the Ministry of Interior, these elections are scheduled to be held next December 5, as they aim to elect new members to replace the vacant seats, with a focus on enhancing women’s representation in line with national trends.
In this context, it is expected that the elections will be held next Thursday, December 5, where the Shallalat group affiliated with the Muhammadiyah prefecture will witness the election of two members to replace the two members whose elections were invalidated. Similar elections will also be held in other collective electoral districts distributed among the prefectures and regions of the Kingdom, provided that nominations are submitted. In the form of lists for the Shallalat community, and individual statements for the rest of the electoral districts.
The Ministry of Interior stated that the filing of nominations will be at the headquarters of the local administrative authority, starting yesterday, Friday, November 15, until noon on Thursday, November 21, while the electoral campaign will begin on Friday, November 22, and end at midnight on Wednesday, December 4.
These elections include many provinces and regions, including Tetouan, Al Hoceima, Chefchaouen, Zane, Driouch, Berkane, Fez, Meknes, Sefrou, Taounate, Taza, Boulemane, Sidi Kacem, Beni Mellal, Azilal, and Fkih Ben Saleh, in addition to other regions.
The partial elections decision covers one or two seats in each group concerned, most of which are allocated to women, within the framework of the commitment to enhancing women’s representation, in accordance with the requirements of the ministerial decision issued in August 2021 regarding allocating seats for women in elected communal councils.
