The Ministry of Health trains 22 nurses on natural childbirth in North Sinai

Today, Wednesday, the Ministry of Health and Population organized a graduation ceremony for the first batch of nurses trained in “natural birth” (midwifery), in North Sinai, under the patronage of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, and in the presence of Major General Mohamed Abdel Fadil Shousha, Governor of North Sinai, and Major General Sherif Bishara Governor of Ismailia.

This comes within the framework of the work on the “Thousand Golden Days” initiative in the life of the child, including supporting natural birth, and its positive effects on the health of the mother and child, and reducing unnecessary caesarean section rates, in cooperation with UNICEF.

Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, explained that the program took a period of 6 months, during which 24 female nurses working in primary health care facilities and hospitals in North Sinai Governorate were trained, theoretical and practical training in natural childbirth skills, which resulted in 22 nurses successfully passing the course.

For his part, Major General Mohamed Abdel-Fadil Shousha, Governor of North Sinai, said that the implementation of this training program contributes to re-disseminating the culture of natural childbirth in the community, praising the efforts made by the Ministry of Health and Population to advance the health system in North Sinai, thanking President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for the initiatives. health care carried out in the governorate.

Major General Sherif Fahmy Bishara, Governor of Ismailia, congratulated the trained nurses on the “natural birth” program, appreciating the existence of such training to improve services in the field of health care, expressing his happiness for hosting this batch’s graduation ceremony on the land of Ismailia Governorate.

Dr. Ihab Kamal, Assistant Minister of Health for Vocational Medical Education Affairs, added that the efficiency of teams trained in natural childbirth is being raised scientifically and theoretically, noting the inclusion of the first batch of nurses trained on the natural childbirth program in the “training of trainers” program, to transfer their experiences to their colleagues at work, stressing the importance of Such programs are compatible with the needs of the community.

For his part, Dr. Wael Abdel Razek, Head of the Health Care and Nursing Sector, stressed the important role that these nurses will play in supporting natural birth and reducing unnecessary caesarean section rates, as part of the ministry’s efforts to adopt the “Thousand Golden Days” initiative of the child’s life, congratulating the graduate nurses. And their role in providing natural childbirth services and outstanding care, especially in remote areas.

Abdel Razek pointed out that 158 ​​training courses for nurses have been implemented in various governorates, with a total of 3,275 nurses, since the start of the program during the past years.

For her part, Dr. Kawthar Mahmoud, head of the Nursing Syndicate, pointed to the importance of the “midwifery” profession to society, noting the creation of a “midwifery” fellowship division that follows the Egyptian fellowship, as well as the inclusion of the “midwifery” division in the nursing faculties of the Galala and King Salman Universities, which confirms the urgent need for the return of this profession. For her position in society due to her important role in reducing caesarean deliveries, noting the intention to open records for midwifery at the Nursing Syndicate.
