Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, a spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, said that no case of mysterious hepatitis has been detected.
In today’s statements, Abdel Ghaffar added that the letter sent by the Preventive Medicine Sector regarding the discovery of cases infected with this disease in Europe, including a definition of cases, comes in line with the continuous follow-up of health events and routinely monitors them through the national surveillance system at all levels.
He pointed out that it has not been proven that this disease is transmitted from one person to another so far.
The World Health Organization had announced, on its official website, that it had monitored 91 cases of hepatitis of unknown cause, including (74 cases in Britain, 9 cases in the United States of America, 5 cases in Ireland, 3 cases in Spain), in addition to a number of infections in Denmark and the Netherlands. .
