– There is no confirmed or suspected case of this disease in Lebanon to date, and any case will be officially announced by the Ministry of Public Health if it is confirmed.
She explained that “monkeypox is a viral disease that is transmitted through: direct contact with infected animals (blood, mucous secretions…), direct contact with an infected person through respiratory particles that take the form of droplets that usually require long periods of face-to-face contact, or from Through the respiratory secretions of a person infected with the disease or its skin lesions, or by contacting things that have been contaminated with its fluids and secretions.”
She pointed out that “the incubation period of the disease ranged between 5 and 21 days, and the disease is not transmitted during this period.”
She said, “The symptoms of the disease are summarized in fever, headache, swollen lymph nodes, back and muscle pain, severe weakness, in addition to the appearance of a rash.”
The Ministry of Public Health called on the media, citizens and health workers to “exercise accuracy and caution in the circulation and dissemination of health information and not to be drawn into rumours.”
