The Ministry of Health and Population revealed the issuance of a circular for all health affairs directorates in the governorates, which includes specific definitions of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and prevention mechanisms among children, adults and medical workers, in order to limit its spread and avoid complications resulting from infection with it.

Respiratory syncytial virus is a mild cold-like illness.

– But it may cause severe complications in children such as bronchitis and pneumonia

– One in every 100 children under the age of 6 months affected may need to be hospitalized, as they need oxygen and pulmonary fluids.

Symptoms are fever, runny nose, diarrhea, vomiting and sore throat

– If you notice difficulty breathing or cyanosis in the skin of children, you should go to the hospital immediately

In the event of infection with the syncytial virus, it is forbidden to mix with children in schools, nurseries and at home to protect them from the spread of infection

Follow preventive measures such as:

Washing hands, cleaning surfaces, not kissing children, and ventilating rooms well
