The Ministry of Health launches the national polio vaccination campaign from 27-30 March

Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Acting Minister the health And the population, the launch of the national campaign to vaccinate once morest polio for free, from 27 to 30 March, in all governorates of the Republic.

Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, explained that the national polio vaccination campaign comes within the framework of keenness to raise societal immunity in children, and to preserve Egypt free of disease.

Abdel Ghaffar added that the campaign aims to vaccinate all children from one day to five years old, both Egyptians and non-Egyptians residing on the land of Egypt, through 45,000 medical teams, with a total of 90,000 individuals, trained at the highest level, in addition to the central supervision teams in the ministry. Supervisory teams in all health directorates and departments.

For his part, Dr. Amr Kandil, Head of the Preventive Medicine Sector, indicated that the campaign roams homes “from house to house” in all governorates, villages and remote areas, in addition to gathering places, markets, major squares, train stations, bus stops, metro stations, and commercial malls. Through mobile teams, in addition to fixed teams located in health offices, health units and medical centers at the level of the governorates of the Republic.

Kandil added that the campaign is being carried out with the participation and cooperation of all concerned parties, starting with the Ministry of Education and Al-Azhar to facilitate the work of teams in vaccination in kindergartens, in addition to the Ministry of Social Solidarity, to vaccinate children in its nurseries, in addition to the Ministry of Awqaf and churches, to raise awareness. Noting the campaign following prayers and masses, to ensure coverage of 100% of the children targeted by the campaign in all governorates.

He called on all families to go with their children to the nearest headquarters of the national polio vaccination campaign teams, in order to preserve their health and prevent them from contracting the disease, stressing that vaccinations are safe and free, as well as taking all preventive and precautionary measures to stop the Corona virus during the implementation of the campaign work.

It is noteworthy that the World Health Organization declared “Egypt” free of polio in 2006, and the last case of polio was recorded in Egypt in 2004.
