Through this service, the Ministry of Health continues to provide its services at the national level to health facilities in all governmental and private sectors, around the clock.
Its services include medical guidance for health practitioners, acceptance and coordination of life-saving cases, and toxicology counseling for health practitioners and the community.
The “Life Saving Line” specialists receive the calls, and they are sorted and directed to the consulting doctor on duty according to the required specialty; This is to ensure that the best medical decision is reached in record time, in addition to following up on the process of transferring accepted patients until reaching the facility they are transferred to.
The current staff includes a large number of medical specialties that include 12 sub- and sub-specialties, and special tracks.
The Ministry of Health said that the rate of life-saving services reaches 70,000 calls, which are responded to annually, while more than 18,000 cases are transferred annually to specialized hospitals.
The total number of services provided by the “Life Saving Line” amounted to 66,322 services during the year 2021 AD, while 8,192 follow-ups of the patient’s condition were recorded 24 hours following receiving the service.
The total number of critical consultations reached 32,246 consultations, 23,590 of which were transferred as life-saving cases, and 8,656 cases were followed up for treatment in the same hospital, while the total toxicology consultations amounted to 34,076 cases, including 13,761 cases of poisoning consultations in hospitals, and 20,316 cases of poisoning from the community.
With regard to cases of ICMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation), the total number of consultations reached 550 cases, of which 473 cases were followed-up for treatment in the same facility, and 77 cases were transferred to other facilities.
