The Youth Council of the Ministry of Health and Prevention and Al Jalila Children’s Specialized Hospital organized a youth circle under the title “The Future Happens Now: The Power of Youth in Promoting and Developing Mental Health”, as part of the activities of the International Society for Mental Health for Children and Adolescents, which kicked off at the Dubai World Trade Center on the fifth of May. This December concluded yesterday. The conference, which is held under the slogan “Children’s and Adolescents’ Mental Health: Shaping the Future”, is the largest event of its kind in the world, and its current session is being organized in Dubai, in the first hosting of an Arab city for this international conference, as it attracts scientific delegations from 85 countries and elite scientists and doctors. From around the world, to discuss the latest developments in the mental health of children and adolescents, which will allow for advances in treatments that will contribute to changing the lives of many.
The youth circle was attended by Her Excellency Ohood bint Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Government Development and the Future, Her Excellency Shamma bint Suhail Al Mazrouei, Minister of State for Youth Affairs, a number of representatives of youth councils in various government institutions and agencies, members of the Youth Council of the Ministry of Health and Prevention, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, and the Organization With Hope, the Federal Center for Competitiveness and Statistics, Zayed University, Mohammed bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences, and the Emirates Health Services Corporation.
The episode, which was moderated by Sheikha Al Shamsi, Acting Chairman of the Youth Council of the Ministry of Health and Prevention, shed light on the importance of mental health for young people in the UAE, and its great impact on the individual and society, especially that the state pays great attention to the youth category in its health and psychological programs, and works in cooperation with society and authorities. The concerned government implemented national policies and comprehensive programs to promote the mental health of society. It also witnessed meaningful discussions regarding the most important mental health challenges for young people and their impact, in addition to discussing solutions by young people to promote mental health.
The episode focused on delivering positive messages to young people that contribute to enhancing their role in sustainable development, supporting their community participation and their ability to assume responsibilities to lead society in the future, and contribute to its well-being and development, in line with the future directions of the state. It also touched on the importance of raising public awareness of concepts related to mental health. among young people, opening wide horizons for them to learn regarding the latest developments in this field.
