The Ministry of Foreign Affairs tightens the recommendation on travel to Lebanon: it is suggested not to go there

The recommendations came as Israel shelled southern Lebanon on Wednesday after Hezbollah fired rockets into it from the border area.

The ministry recommends that those in Lebanon take precautionary measures – stay in a hotel, home or other safe place, stay away from windows, and have essential supplies.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the security situation in the country, especially on the border with Israel, changes very quickly, so it is necessary to constantly follow the information and be vigilant, follow the advice of the local authorities and assess that if the situation worsens, it will be more difficult to leave Lebanon. The ministry also recommends constantly monitoring airport information.

The Ministry recommends not to go to the following dangerous areas: the border areas with Israel, especially south of the Litany River, the southern part of Beirut, Tripoli (Trablous), the northern part of the Bekaa Valley and the Hermel district, Palestinian refugee camps, the border section with Syria. The danger remains in the rest of Beirut, Sidon (Saida) and the southern part of the Bekaa Valley.

“If you are currently in Lebanon or intend to travel there, please register immediately by completing the travel registration form so that we can contact you for consular assistance if necessary,” the ministry said.

On Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania tightened the recommendation regarding trips to Israel and Palestine – it is suggested not to go there.

Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel on Saturday, invading its territory and launching rocket attacks. Israel carried out retaliatory strikes on the Gaza Strip. Thousands of people have died in the conflict, both in Israel and in the Gaza Strip.

As Israel and Palestinian armed groups continue fighting in the blockaded Gaza Strip along Israel’s southern border, the Iranian-backed Lebanese militant group Hezbollah said earlier Wednesday that it had fired rockets into Israel.
