The Ministry of Foreign Affairs begins the call for the XVII Public Competition of Opposition and Merits

Asuncion, IP Agency.- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has officially announced the call for the XVII Public Competition of Opposition and Merit in 2024, for entry into the Diplomatic and Consular Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Paraguay. Ten positions are available and will be assigned to those who obtain the best scores.

Starting on Thursday, July 11, and until Friday, August 30, 2024, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be enabled on its portal, www.mre.gov.pya link where registrations to participate in the competition will be made. On this site, you will find additional information regarding the required documentation and other relevant aspects.

People of Paraguayan nationality, over 18 years of age at the time of registration for the Competition, who are qualified to hold public office and in full enjoyment of their civil and political rights, may participate. They must be university graduates or have a “university level”, a category that for the purposes of this Competition is accredited by certifying the approval of at least 50% of the subjects of the university degree.

The Carlos Antonio López Diplomatic and Consular Academy, which will be in charge of organizing and carrying out the exams scheduled for the fourth quarter of this year, will communicate the procedures for the tests in due time.

The subjects to be evaluated are History of International Relations of Paraguay in the global context, Spanish Language, Foreign Language (English or Portuguese), Fundamentals of Law and Economics and International Trade.

The contestants will also be subjected to an oral and written expression assessment, and those who obtain the best scores will be subjected to a battery of psychotechnical tests.

The call was resolved by the Qualifications Board of the Diplomatic and Consular Service in its extraordinary session on May 28 and is made under the terms of Law 6935/22.

To date, 16 public competitions have been held since 2007. 184 places were opened and 183 candidates entered the competition through this procedure, 84 women and 98 men.
