The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism requests localities to strengthen management measures for festivals during the 2024 Lunar New Year

Accordingly, in order to implement Official Telegram No. 11/CD-TTg dated January 30, 2024 of the Prime Minister on ensuring a civilized, safe and economical lifestyle in belief and religious activities. On the occasion of the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin and the 2024 Spring Festival, the Department of Grassroots Culture requested the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Department of Culture and Sports of provinces and centrally run cities to organize and deploy advice to local authorities to strengthen management measures. State regulations on festivals; Raise awareness and responsibility of all levels, sectors, people and tourists in strictly implementing the content of Official Telegram No. 11/CD-TTg dated January 30, 2024 of the Prime Minister; Regulations of Decree No. 110/2018/ND-CP dated August 29, 2018 of the Government on management and organization of festivals and guiding documents of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The Department of Grassroots Culture also requested the provinces to direct and request the festival organizers to strictly implement the provisions of the law to organize the festival to ensure security, order, safety, savings, and in accordance with lifestyle. civilization, cultural traditions of the nation and good customs and practices of each locality; Do not organize widespread festivals that are costly and waste time and money of the people, society and the State.

At the same time, strengthen the organization of propaganda activities regarding the origins of festivals, relics and characters worshiped and honored; regarding the true values ​​and meanings of traditional rituals in festive activities.

Implement propaganda measures and mobilize people not to burn votive objects and votive papers widely, causing expense and waste, ensuring safety, saving and protecting the environment. Organize inspection, examination and supervision before, during and following the festival; promptly prevent and strictly handle violations in festival activities, especially acts of taking advantage of monuments, festivals, and beliefs for personal gain, superstitious activities, and gambling.
