The press conference will be held at 2.30pm on Monday, the communications department in the Ministry of Transport informs NTB.
It is expected that the two ministers will announce that there will be money to secure the road, according to Romsdal’s Budstikke and NRK.
– They don’t come empty-handed. I am not allowed to say anything about what the ministers will say concretely. What I am sure of is that this will be a pleasant time at the barrier on Trollstigen, says parliamentary representative Geir Inge Lien (Sp) to rbnett.
Mayor of Rauma, Yvonne Wold (SV), also has good hope that it will now be resolved.
– I hope and believe that there will be good money needed to start the insurance immediately, she says to NRK.
Closed for the year
On 20 June, it was decided that the Trollstigen in Møre and Romsdal should be closed due to the risk of landslides. Lack of security work means that one of Norway’s most visited tourist attractions will be closed for the rest of the year. According to the county road manager, NOK 50 million will be needed just for immediate measures.
Local politicians and business interests have demanded that extraordinary state funds for breed protection come into place now.
Visit last week
On Wednesday last week, Nygård visited Trollstigen. Then he would not promise fresh funds for breed protection.
– We came to Trollstigen today to listen to the county council. We have done that. It is basically the responsibility of the county council to operate and maintain Trollstigen. We will now assess whether there is something the state can contribute with, Nygård added VG.
The Ministry of Transport has pointed out that Trollstigen is a county road, and that Møre and Romsdal will receive NOK 127 million this year for road safety.
Lien says there has been a lot of contact in recent days to find a solution.
– We have been working diligently to look at the possibility of financing the race safety measures, ever since the Trollstigen was decided to be closed. I have also had close contact with county mayor Anders Riise, especially over this weekend. Everyone is concerned that the safety of the Trollstigen should be started as soon as possible, he says.
