The Minister of Trade presides over the opening of the 2nd edition of the International Beverage Industry Exhibition

ALGIERS- The Minister of Trade and Export Promotion, Kamel Rezig chaired, Monday in Algiers, the opening of the 2nd edition of the International Exhibition of the Beverage and Liquid Food Industry (BEVALG) which continues until to March 11 at the Palais des expositions, with the participation of nearly 90 national and foreign companies.

Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Rezig said that this economic event is an opportunity to promote national products, especially as the holy month of Ramadhan approaches, but also a space to promote this sector and increase the value added and the quality of Algerian products intended for export.

In this regard, Mr. Rezig specified that the volume of Algerian beverage exports is increasing every year, reaching nearly 20 million dollars between 2020 and 2022, a volume exported by 100 Algerian economic operators.

The Minister said he expected a multiplication of exports of these products in 2023 given the strong demand for Algerian drinks, particularly from African markets, welcoming the access of products from this sector to Arab and European markets. and even Americans.

Algerian beverages “have achieved self-sufficiency and cover the needs of citizens 100%”, he pointed out, specifying that “we bet a lot on this sector to contribute to the increase in the volume of exports from the non-hydrocarbon countries because of their good quality”.

He also called on economic operators to offer special and promotional offers during the holy month of Ramadhan.

For his part, the curator of the exhibition, Djalal Louz, explained that the number of participants and economic operators in this edition has doubled approximately twice compared to the first edition, “and given the great attendance recorded, the surface of the show has been enlarged by three times”, anticipating 20,000 visitors for this edition.
