The Minister of Labor and Social Development, Mr. Jamil bin Muhammad Ali Humaidan, inaugurated today, Wednesday, the Third International Conference on Human Resources Development, organized by the Bahrain Society for Training and Human Resources Development, under the slogan “Mental Health in the Work Environment”, during the period between January 19-20, The event was held at the Diplomat Hotel, with the participation of many relevant institutions and specialists from inside and outside the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The conference aims to review successful best practices for building healthier institutions, companies and work environments to support the mental health of employees and workers in various establishments, as well as the best recent studies presented by a number of experts and specialists in this field.
In his speech during the conference, Humaidan stressed the importance of the employee’s mental health role in improving productivity in any institution, and the need to preserve psychological aspects, especially in times of major crises such as the spread of epidemics and others, referring in this context to the impact of the outbreak of the Corona pandemic on the mental health of workers, which threw Its shadow over all aspects of health, social and economic life, stressing at the same time that mental health in the work environment is closely related to the ability to provide job security and not to prejudice the gains achieved and the strength and stability of the labor market, in an effort to ensure a decent life, which is the first challenge facing the economic and societal system In times of crisis and facing challenges.

A fruitful relationship between the executive and legislative authorities, and the contribution of thought and opinion leaders, Bahrain was able to overcome the challenges imposed by the pandemic with a solid economy and a stable and cohesive labor market during which the job stability of the national workforce was maintained, stressing that the results were good and give hope for a bright future and a stable and developing labor market that secures The cards and capabilities of Bahrainis in facing challenges. Humaidan also touched on the success in achieving the targeted numbers by employing more than 26,000 job seekers, and training more than 12,000 Bahraini youth, in 2021 through the National Project for Employment in its second edition, and setting an economic recovery plan (2022-2026), which It aims to employ more than 20,000 and train more than 10,000 Bahraini youth annually.
Humaidan stressed the continuation of addressing challenges by re-engineering the infrastructure for training and workforce development, and addressing any defect that affects the integration of young people into the labor market with their different specializations, through many projects aimed at achieving harmonization between education outcomes and labor market requirements, in light of the great development and changes The accelerating pace in this market due to digital globalization, information security and other aspects of development that have become a feature of the times, foremost among which are: Skills Bahrain Initiative, Employment Skills Program, designing training programs for job seekers and new workers in private sector institutions, (Platform) project e-Employment Skills), and others.
The Minister of Labor and Social Development stressed that all efforts made contribute to enhancing stability, development and job security as a major axis to support productivity, and protect workers from the effects and results of the challenges we are going through, pointing out that it is important during this conference to send a message to business owners, by providing the components of the province. On mental health in the workplace, and the message as well to employees and workers of the need to trust that Bahrain is able to guarantee their stability and job security.
