Mustapha Baitas, the official spokesman for the government, confirmed that the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Khalid Ait Taleb, will sit at the dialogue table with the sector’s unions.

During the press conference following the government council meeting held today, Thursday, Baitas did not indicate a specific date for the meeting, which he said would bring together the Minister of Health and the sector’s unions, while he confirmed that this meeting would be held very soon.

The same minister explained, in response to press questions regarding the government’s vision of the crisis facing the health sector, that the upcoming meeting will be devoted to discussing various issues related to the sector’s workers.

In a related context, the government official reviewed the features of the reform in the health sector, highlighting that it is based on four basic pillars, including governance, which includes the decrees approved by the government council today, in addition to caring for human resources, through increasing doctors’ wages by approving the index number 509, which granted great possibilities to doctors, while the two new decrees enable nurses to receive the decided increases.

As for the third pillar, it concerns the rehabilitation of 1,400 hospitals, in order to improve the citizen’s access to the first health point and guide him smoothly towards the hospital bodies to which he must resort, while the fourth pillar is related to digitization in order to facilitate making appointments and resorting to hospitalization in general.

Yesterday morning, Wednesday, the public forces intervened by force to prevent a national protest march by health professionals in the capital, Rabat, using water hoses to disperse the protesters, which created widespread tension among the unions, who accuse the government of ignoring the demands included in the agreement between them and the relevant ministerial sectors, following a series of meetings within the framework of the sectoral dialogue.
