The Minister of Health challenged the “Al-Jadeed” channel… and fled

After weeks of elusiveness, the Ministry of Public Health admitted that there were breaches in its platform dedicated to the “Corona” pandemic, in light of a wide and serious discussion regarding leaking the personal data of the Lebanese from the platform, which led to a television dispute between the Minister of Health Firas Al-Abyad and a TV channel reporter. The “new” ended with the minister fleeing.

Activists on the communication sites circulated a video clip of the Minister of Health, in which he tells Al-Jadeed correspondent Hadi Al-Amin that he is challenging proving any penetration. After the reporter raised documents and said that he accepted the challenge, the minister walked. The channel’s reporter chased following him and repeated his calls to him, but he did not stop.

Subsequently, the journalist, expert in verifying misinformation and misinformation, Mahmoud Ghazel, published on his Twitter account, that the data of the United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, was easily “leaked” through the platform of the Lebanese Ministry of Health, following he placed his data in it during his visit. Following the scandal, the media office of Minister Firas Abyad announced that following the investigations that were launched immediately upon the disclosure of a number of personal data registered on the MOPHPASS platform at Hariri International Airport, the loophole that might be breached was identified and the necessary tests were conducted to ensure that it was addressed and that the breach would not be repeated.
And she indicated that this breach “affected a limited number of data of public figures without reaching the point of controlling the platform, stressing that work is continuing to develop security standards on the platform in order to keep pace with all cyber risks and reduce them.”

And the media office revealed in a statement that the General Directorate of Public Security, in meetings devoted to this issue, was briefed on everything related to the MOPHPASS platform, and all the internal investigations conducted by the ministry were referred to the directorate, which will follow up on the necessary investigations, noting that the Ministry of Public Health referred the matter to the Public Prosecution and took action. The nature of the allegation on everyone who appears in the investigation as an actor and a participant in the breach that occurred.
