Aurélien Rousseau wants to make wearing a mask “banal” when you have respiratory symptoms, when you are a fragile person or in close contact with one of them.
France is experiencing a slight upturn in Covid-19 contamination, while a new variant is the subject of increased vigilance at the global level. “The Covid and the mutations that we know do not present any particularly worrying danger or incidence levels, but we are monitoring them”, declares on BFMTV-RMC Aurélien Rousseau.
“We have not disarmed our monitoring system but we have switched to a more classic system as for the flu”, explains the Minister of Health on Monday.
The mask as a “reflex”
However, he does not rule out making the wearing of a mask compulsory once more in the event of a greater epidemic recovery. “I think there is an intermediate step: the trivialization of the mask when you have respiratory symptoms, that goes for going to the baker or for a minister who goes to the government for questions,” he says.
“We must all tell ourselves that wearing the mask is something banal which must be a reflex”, adds the minister, in particular for those in contact with fragile people.
“The French do not need to be infantilized but they need to know where we are: an incidence which rises slightly and a very low hospital impact”, concludes Aurélien Rousseau.
