The Minister of Culture makes two French mistakes in a short tweet

The Minister of Culture and Communications, Mathieu Lacombe, made two French mistakes in a short tweet broadcast on Sunday evening.

Wanting to highlight his presence at the 24th Gala Les Olivier, the chosen one wrote: “At the Gala Les Oliviers tonight! Good luck to all the nominees and enjoy the show!”

As can be seen in the background of the photo published by the Minister, the name of the event is written without an “s” at the end of the word “Olivier”.

In addition, the term “nominees” is to be avoided when talking regarding people in the running for a prize, according to the Quebec Office of the French language. It is preferable to speak of “selected” or “appointed” people.

The misstep of the Minister of Culture did not go unnoticed by several Internet users who pointed out to Mathieu Lacombe the two errors that slipped into his tweet of only 15 words.
