Ink in the skin and in the heart. The Ariitai tatau association continues its work to highlight young tattoo artists. The Faa’a nui a tu te tatau festival is 7 days of demonstrations, meetings and competition days.

The tattoo is a story of sharing. Often self-taught, the young artists pushed the doors of the shops to present their work, obtain advice, and gradually make a place for themselves on the market. “I was lucky to be accepted (…) To have advice on what to do, not to do” says Mahana Poirier.

At 21, he took part in the mini festival for the first time. He entered the competition for the most beautiful tattoo in the Patutiki and Modern Polynesia categories, scheduled for the weekend.

In the meantime, the public can discover the style of each tattoo artist present and why not take the plunge. Shérazade met her tattoo artist during the previous edition. “I wanted fine tattooing. I came last year. I met Yann. He was the one who finished my leg and then we decided to do the arm.”

On paper or skin, these artists do not stop drawing, tracing to progress in the art of tattooing. The festival will close its doors on Sunday, April 10.
