The Executive Department of the Municipality of Córdoba promulgated this Wednesday the ordinance that significantly increases the penalties against drivers who use travel applications, mainly Uber.

The modification approved by the Deliberative Council on October 5 applied a sharp increase in fines, which will now range between eighty (80) and three hundred (300) Municipal Economic Units (UEM). Until this Tuesday, the value of the fine unit was $2,308, so the penalties ranged from $184,640 to $692,400.

But in the event that the trip has been arranged through non-authorized agencies, centers or applications such as Uber, the penalty is tripled. That is to say, the scale of sanctions ranges, always with the values in force as of September 26, 2023, from $553,920 (240 UEM) to $2,077,200 (900 UEM).

Until now, the fines ranged from 30 to 90 UEM, that is, from $69 thousand to $207 thousand.

The ordinance was voted by the ruling bloc Hacemos por Córdoba, along with the majority of the councilors of Together for Change, Juan Pablo Quinteros and Gabriela Paulí. Laura Cubas (Left Front) and Juan Negri voted against.
