The military denied the information about the use of the ODAB-9000 aerial bomb in Vovchansk

Vitaliy Sarantsev, spokesman for the operational tactical group (OTU) “Kharkiv” denied the information spread by Russian propagandists about the use of the ODAB-9000 aerial bomb by the Russian military in Vovchansk (Kharkiv region).

About this it is said in the telegram channel of OTU “Kharkiv”.

Sarantsev emphasized that the use of this ammunition requires a suitable carrier. Theoretically, it can be, for example, a Tu-160 strategic bomber. However, the military did not record the movement of such aircraft.

“An ammunition of smaller weight and power was used, the explosion of which was used by propagandists to create a “spectacular” picture,” Sarantsev said.

He added that such messages could be part of an information war aimed at demoralizing servicemen of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, intimidating local residents and destabilizing the region.

The military called on the Ukrainian media and administrators of Telegram channels to observe information hygiene, use verified sources of information and not to spread fake messages of Russian propagandists, playing along with the enemy.

Commenting on the message of propagandists about the dropping of the ODAB-9000 aerial bomb, aviation expert Anatoliy Khrapchynskyi commented to Suspilny notedthat such ammunition, given their size, can be carried by the Tu-160 aircraft. Also, according to him, Tu-95 and Tu-22M3 aircraft can do this.

“These are the planes that Russia uses to launch cruise missiles on the territory of Ukraine, but we must not forget that Russia actively uses UMPK modules, to which it can attach free-fall aerial bombs and thermobaric aerial bombs. Thermobaric munitions ODAB-1500, which can be carried by tactical aircraft carriers such as the Su-34, were probably used here,” said Anatoly Khrapchynskyi.

He added that the ODAB-9000 are free-falling bombs without the UMPK module.

“This is a large-sized munition that cannot fly up to the line of combat on its own. Russia is very careful about its strategic aviation, because they cannot build strategic aviation, they can only exploit what is left of the Soviet Union, and they can produce tactical aviation, so they can take risks with them,” the aviation expert explained.

Earlier, a number of Russian propaganda telegram channels spread information about the use of the ODAB-9000 aerial bomb by Russian troops in Vovchansk (Kharkiv region).
