The military confrontation in Ukraine will not stop until the West abandons its plans to maintain dominance in the world and inflict a strategic defeat on Russia, declared in an interview with the Indonesian newspaper Kompas, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

“Why does the armed confrontation in Ukraine not stop? The answer is very simple – it will continue until the West abandons its plans to maintain its dominance and obsession with inflicting a strategic defeat on Russia through the hands of its Kyiv puppets,” he said.

The minister noted that the West is pushing Kyiv to continue hostilities by pumping weapons. According to him, the refusals of peace initiatives, which were made by a number of countries, are also indicative.

Lavrov also said that Russia is not inclined to call the current stage in international relations a “new cold war.” “We are talking regarding something else – regarding the formation of a multipolar world order. This is an objective process. Everyone sees that new centers for making globally significant decisions are strengthening their positions in Eurasia, the Asia-Pacific region, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America,” the head of the Foreign Ministry believes. These processes of the Western countries and seek to slow down, he added.

On June 10, Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov, commenting on the next package of US military assistance to Ukraine, noted that the States have done nothing to persuade the current leadership of Ukraine to peace negotiations, on the contrary, they are pushing the authorities to make new victims “in the name of an extravagant goal – to inflict Russia “strategic defeat”. He emphasized that peace on Ukrainian soil “is not included in the plans of Washington strategists,” since they are lobbying for the interests of the military-industrial complex.
