The military aircraft “Spartan” landed in Vilnius with 30 evacuees from Israel

Major Jurgis Norvaiša, the representative of the army, confirmed this to BNS on Saturday.

“Spartan” took off from Antalya Airport on Saturday around 3:00 p.m., and around 6:00 p.m. (Lithuanian time) landed in Hungary for a technical stop lasting approximately one hour.

The aircraft used for the evacuation of Lithuanians from Israel completed the vigil that began on Wednesday in Turkey with the flight that took place on Saturday. According to the National Crisis Management Center (NKVC), it ended without more Lithuanian citizens wanting to evacuate from Israel to Turkey.

A total of 95 people, most of them Lithuanian citizens, were transported from Israel to Turkey by the “Spartan” aircraft of the Lithuanian army this week in three evacuation flights. Many of them decided to return to Lithuania on their own.

NKVC notes that Lithuanians remaining in Israel will be able to turn to the Lithuanian Embassy there for help, which will be able to provide information about planned flights.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), evacuation flights are planned by Latvia, Belgium and France in the near future.

On Saturday morning, the NKVC indicated that the “Spartan” plane would land at the Air Force base in Zokniai.

“Spartan” carried out the first evacuation flight on Wednesday, 29 passengers were flown to Antalya from Tel Aviv, while 42 people were brought from Israel to Turkey during the second flight on Friday night.

On Friday evening, 24 passengers were flown from Israel to Turkey during the third evacuation flight.

The military aircraft “Spartan” planned to be on duty in Turkey until October 15.

The plane of the Lithuanian army was used by the group “Hamas” after the surprise attack on Israel last weekend.

Hamas invaded Israeli territory last weekend, launching rocket attacks. Israel carried out retaliatory strikes on the Gaza Strip. The conflict has killed thousands of people in both Israel and the Gaza Strip.
