The Microlino is now available in Germany. The smart city car from the Swiss company Micro impresses with its charming design, a locally emission-free all-electric drive and a high degree of practicality for city and country. The limited Pioneer version, which is available in two colors and starts at 22,690 euros, makes the start.
The Microlino is a light electric vehicle of the vehicle class L7e and was specially developed for the urban environment. A top speed of 90 km/h and a range of up to 230 kilometers are sufficient to move around in urban and rural areas without any problems. With two seats and a trunk volume of 230 liters, the Microlino also offers enough space for shopping trips through the city, short trips to the surrounding area and for big weekend shopping.
“Normal cars are basically much too big and too heavy for everyday use,” says Ann-Christin Koch, who has been responsible for the brand as Brand Manager in Germany since the beginning of the year. “The Microlino, on the other hand, is small, light and efficient and thus not only saves energy, but also another resource: space.” At just 2.52 meters long and 1.47 meters wide, the Microlino moves agilely and without taking up much space agile through the city. A parking space can be found in no time at all – and when parking at right angles, the two occupants even climb directly onto the footpath through the front door, which opens to the front.
There are three battery variants for the Microlino: In the entry-level version with 6 kWh, the vehicle can travel up to 91 kilometers per charge, the medium-sized battery variant with 10.5 kWh enables ranges of up to 177 kilometers, and with the 14 kWh battery it can do it Microlino up to 230 kilometers.
The Pioneer Edition available at the market launch in Germany is equipped with the middle battery version with 10.5 kWh. The standard equipment includes bi-LED headlights, a central touch display, a digital speedometer and a sunroof. Black leather and suede – both in a vegan version – as well as white decorative stitching and a plaque with an engraved serial number ensure exclusivity, while the two paint finishes Atlantis Blue and Torino Aluminum and special hubcaps in white or black set accents on the outside. Continental tires with optimized rolling resistance are mounted on the 13-inch wheels.
Although the Microlino is not an automobile in the classic sense, it was developed according to automobile standards. It is the first light vehicle to feature a monocoque body made of steel and aluminium, a solution that is safer and more durable than the tubular space frames normally used in this vehicle class. At the same time, the weight remains low: Without the battery, the Microlino weighs a mere 435 kilograms. Corresponding to the use of materials, the impact of vehicle production and use on the environment is also low, especially in comparison with conventional electric cars.
The vehicle is produced in Turin in cooperation with the Italian manufacturing company Cecomp. The Microlino is already available in Switzerland, and sales are now starting in Germany via the mobility service provider Astara. The Microlino is sold via an agency model: the vehicles can be ordered online at (aum)
