“We started in the country with days of prayer, forums, discussions and the National Dialogue for Peace, held in September 2023; all this gave rise to a series of concrete proposals expressed in the National Peace Agenda and in “Commitments for Peace”which were presented and signed by the candidates for the presidency of Mexico, as well as many other contenders for public office in the country,” they said.
The Catholic Church also remembered the death of the two Jesuit priests Javier and Joaquin in Cerocahui.
In the face of these events, they reiterated that they raised their voices to denounce more strongly the violence, the impunity in mexico and demand immediate action to achieve peace.
“Two years ago, Mexico was shaken and outraged by the murder of Javier and Joaquín, two Jesuit priests who, in the words of those who knew them, were dedicated to loving people and showed it until their last breath, when their blood was shed in the altar of the church of Cerocahuiat the feet of the image of Saint Francis Xavier and next to Pedro Palma, husband and father, another innocent victim of violence in Mexico,” the clergy recalled.
“The blood spilled in Cerocahui, and all the suffering of the victims of violence in Mexico, disappearances, forced displacements, move us and commit us.
