Adriana Ruano Oliva returned to Guatemala on the afternoon of August 14 after her historic adventure at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

In the thirty-third edition of the modern Olympics, the Guatemalan athlete achieved the greatest sporting achievement in the history of the country by winning a gold medal in the Olympic trap shooting category with hunting weapons.

This afternoon the medalist was received by thousands of Guatemalans who showed their admiration and joy for his outstanding performance and a few hours later he attended a press conference with the media.

At the event, held at a hotel in Zone 10, Ruano Oliva spoke on several topics, including one that moved everyone present.

Adriana was questioned about the possibility of having her father in front of her and what words she would dedicate to him.

It is worth remembering that Adriana Ruano’s father passed away a few weeks before she competed in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

“It’s something I’ve been thinking about all the time. My dad was with me throughout the whole process. He was my driving force. In the final, I imagined him sitting there telling me, ‘Come on,’ I would say thank you for the education he gave me along with my mom. He instilled values in me and I try to apply them in my daily life,” he said.

I would tell him mission accomplished and that I hope he is proud of me.“, she finished expressing, visibly excited.
