The Mercedes EQXX Concept travels 1,008 km on a single charge!

Mercedes EQXX Concept

The Mercedes EQXX Concept promises 1,000 km of autonomy. To prove that this is possible, the style study has just achieved a feat.

All concept cars promise dizzying numbers. And this is particularly the case of electrical studies, which advance amazing autonomy, that no one will ever be able to verify. Except in the Mercedes EQXX Concept, which proves that its 1,000 km (and more) are not just announcement effects.

8.7 kWh/100 km average for the Mercedes EQXX Concept

Started from the Sindelfingen Research & Development center near Stuttgart, futuristic concept de la marque à l’Étoile took the road towards the south of France, with the city of Cassis as its point of arrival. That’s a journey of just over 1,000 km on a single charge.

In the end, the Mercedes EQXX Concept crossed the finish line following exactly 1,008 km of road. And this without running out of fuel, since, at the end of the exercise, the battery had a score of 15% charge available for 140 km of additional autonomy. Total consumption: an unbeatable average of 8.7 kWh/100 km.

Technology on the Mercedes of tomorrow

In terms of statistics, the Mercedes teams indicate that the journey lasted 12:02 very precisely, including 11:32 hours of driving. An almost non-stop journey, during which the concept authorized to drive on the roads remained “near speed limits”, with a maximum of 140 km/h in Germany. In the end, the average speed is 87.4 km/h. Which remains very close to reality on such a long course.

Because the Mercedes EQXX was not content to tread only the bitumen of the highways. The route included a few detours via alpine mountain passes and towns, in order to multiply the driving and climatic conditions. As such, the range of temperatures encountered ranged from 3°C to 18°C, while the sunshine allowed the photovoltaic roof to recover 25 km out of the 1,008 km of road.

The electric car passing the symbolic bar of 1,000 km of autonomy is now a reality. Or almost, since the EQXX is still only a laboratory and has been developed as such, with exclusive materials and technical choices. But even without a crystal ball, we can easily say that a good part of its characteristics will be found on the brand’s future electrics.
