The Mazda 3 is updated in Japan with these changes

  • Mazda MX-30 R-EV: the return of the rotary engine
  • Mazda 6 2023: update for the Japanese saloon

Introduced in 2019, the Mazda 3 is already preparing changes. The Japanese compact has taken the opportunity to reveal the corresponding updates that the brand has prepared for certain models for next year. In this way, everything indicates that the modifications recently presented in Japan will reach Europe, one of the main ones being the change of screen for the multimedia system.

    with new screen

Currently, both the 5-door Mazda 3 and the Sedan are accompanied by an 8.8-inch screen integrated into the upper part of their dashboards. Well, this element will increase in size since the Asian company has just presented a new 10.3-inch screenthough it’s unclear if the smaller configuration will continue to be offered as standard or be replaced entirely.

Mazda’s Japanese press release also states that the compact will benefit from an illuminated USB-C port and a wireless charging pad for mobile devices. Likewise, everything indicates that these two improvements are incorporated into the models of European specifications. The same goes for extended driving assistance, which in its native country now includes a driver attention monitor, as well as front and rear pedestrian detection.

Other possible innovations include a new paint option, specifically ceramic color. There is also the possibility of start the car remotely using the MyMazda smartphone appwhich might add a function apparently designed for parents who want to control their children by sending alerts regarding vehicle speed, driving time and the area where the vehicle is driven.

    Will they come to Europe?

Since the company has yet to announce any updates to the 2024 Mazda 3 that will be sold in Europe, nor the one that will go to the United States, it is possible that there will be more or less changes while that happens. Our colleagues at Car and Driver USA contacted a Mazda spokesperson who declined to confirm details regarding the US models, but said the company will release that information later this year. We will have to wait.
