The nine-in-one general election came to an end on the 26th. Li Wenzheng, the non-party mayor of Xiaogang District, Kaohsiung, won 1,305 votes for re-election. However, he passed away due to illness yesterday, leaving the post of Mayor of Gangming vacant.

In this regard, the Election Commission of Kaohsiung City stated today that it has indeed received news of the death of the village chief, but has not yet received an official document from the Xiaogang District Office; The election will be re-elected within 3 months. Therefore, after receiving the official document, the Election Committee will re-elect within 3 months from the date of Li Wenzheng’s death. At that time, the election announcement will be re-issued according to the procedure, and the qualifications will be reviewed. After the qualifications meet the requirements, the lottery number will be drawn.
