Derek Easterling is the mayor of Kennesaw in the Atlanta metropolitan area. He served in the U.S. Navy and received the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Service Medal of Honor, the Navy Medal, etc. Since 2016, he has served as mayor of Kennesaw.
The Easterlings praised Shen Yun’s actors for their superb skills and the entire show’s superb production.
Dawn Easterling: “The water sleeve dance is so uniquely choreographed and so beautiful that you can’t take your eyes off the stage. Everyone, all the dancers are choreographed and synchronized with precision. I used to dance, so I’m very familiar with steps and lines. Picky.”
Derek Easterling: “All the dances were full of power and grace. I was amazed by the actors’ difficult jumps and their movement skills. Everything was so perfect.”
They had vivid memories of the live symphony orchestra and were deeply moved by the melody of the erhu.
Derek Easterling: “This (the live orchestra) was my favorite part because we were sitting in the front row. We were totally focused and (luckily) sitting in that position, we were just to the left of the stage with the (musicians) playing percussion ) is right there, it’s unbelievable because you really feel the live accompaniment.”
Derek Easterling: “It was great, I learned a lot, some of the actors impressed me so much that I remember them so well. I can’t say the correct pronunciation of Erhu, two string instruments. It’s unbelievable that just two strings can She (the erhu player) is amazing for playing with such rich emotions, sounds, and full of energy.”
The Easterlings were deeply moved by the spiritual connotation of the performance.
Derek Easterling: “Yes, I was really moved by Shen Yun’s presentation of pre-communist China.” “The show’s ability to revive China’s history and move it forward is exactly what I’m looking forward to.”
