MEXICO CITY.- This Monday, during the usual morning press conference of the president of Mexico, Andres Manuel Lopez Obradorthe general director of the Virtual Trends, Oscar David Lozanowho assured that this means has mobilized more than 246,000 passengers in 205 days of operations.
“To date, we have managed to mobilize almost a quarter of a million people since December 16, when we began operations (…) In comparison, it would be like 2.6 times the size of the Azteca Stadium, we would fill it with the passengers we have transported in this period,” said the official.
Lozano noted that as of July 11, the Maya Train has operated for 205 days, during which time it has transported 246,926 people, and since January 1 alone it has transported 43,065 users, of which 1,808 have been international passengers, 17,214 national, 15,988 local and 8,055 special.
This, he said, reflects the interest and usefulness of this means of transport in the southeastern region of the country.
He recalled that section 1 of the Maya Train has two services a day from Cancun to Palenque and from Palenque to Cancun.
President López Obrador’s flagship project includes 1,554 kilometers with seven sections that cross five states and 36 municipalities and has a total of 34 stations.
The director said that the service has been punctual, and only saw its operations interrupted during the passage of huracán Beryl last June.
For his part, López Obrador pointed out that getting on the Mayan Train and traveling its route is as if one were in a “Terrenal.paradise” that is not found anywhere in the world.
“We talk about one of the most beautiful regions in the world“It’s not just a day trip to Palenque. It’s the Bacalar Lagoon, it’s Calakmul, it’s Jaguar Park; it’s beautiful cities like Merida, Campeche,” he said.
He said that this service is operating correctly because the units arrive punctually to each of the stations.
