The mattress is the reason.. Details of the death of two children in an apartment west of Alexandria

A fire in a residential apartment, in the Shobokshi neighborhood in the Kom El Shoqafa area, west of Alexandria, caused the death of two children asphyxiated, following the bed mattress caught fire inside the apartment, and the two children were at home alone without their family.

Major General Mahmoud Abu Omar, Director of Alexandria Security, received a notification from the Karmouz Police Department’s warden, stating that a fire had broken out inside the Shabakshi neighborhood apartment in the Kom al-Shaqafa area, in the department’s department.

Immediately, the security services, civil protection men and an ambulance moved to the scene of the accident, and by inspection and examination, it was found that the fire broke out in the apartment while the two children were inside. Upon entering the apartment, the two children, a boy and a girl, died of suffocation due to the rising smoke.

For his part, a source denied what was reported regarding the death of the two children following they caught fire, and that the fire broke out due to the ignition of a plastic material in the mattress. The two bodies were transferred to the Kom El-Dikka morgue at the Public Prosecution’s disposal.
