Wrexham’s James McClean put in a tackle on Levi Colwill after just two minutes, prompting strong reactions to say the least.
Chelsea defender Colwill grabbed his opponent’s shirt and they both began tearing and tearing at each other in fury. The referee and several players rushed there in an attempt to avert what could have ended in a brawl.
Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson also stepped in and tried to do his bit to calm the situation down.
After a while they succeeded and both players somewhat unbelievably managed to avoid being cautioned, which most likely has to do with the fact that it was a friendly match.
The match was part of a pre-season tour of the United States and was played in California. It is the second year Chelsea and Wrexham have met in a friendly. The meeting during the night of Thursday ended 2-2.
Breakthrough with TV series
Wrexham, who play in the third division in England, have become a big sensation team. In recent years, it has been possible to follow the players in the series “Welcome to Wrexham”, which depicts the team’s journey up through the league system. The club is owned by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, among others.
