We’ve known for a while that Paramount’s Halo series was going to feature the Master Chief’s face, with actor Pablo Schreiber playing the show’s iconic character. The first episode premiered today, and the reveal of the face of one of the game’s most famous characters turned out to be… rather dull.
Under the helmet was Pablo Schreiber, and when you look at him in a suit, you don’t get the feeling at all that this is the same cult Master Chief.
Just see for yourself:
Do you get the feeling it’s him? The same one, the savior of mankind? If not, then you’re not alone, because social networks are already full of jokes regarding how the showrunners “leaked” the face at the very beginning of the show, leaving no intrigue until the end. And that’s 20+ years that the Master Chief has been wearing a helmet. Some joke that someone is very fast.
Some viewers draw parallels with The Mandalorian, where the character’s face was revealed only at the very end and in a scene that really had an emotional charge.
Others say that the only canon face of the Master Chief is this:
One of the main complaints is that showing the Master Chief’s face ruins his whole image. Removing the helmet destroys the effect that has developed from the “legendary Spartan”, because he turns out to be just some kind of man.
If you are afraid that this face will become canon, then do not worry. In fact, the action of the Halo series takes place in an alternative universe that operates according to modern Hollywood rules.
What is not clear – did Microsoft just give the go-ahead for such a disclosure of the Master Chief?
