The Managing Director of SETRAG reassures following the resumption of passenger traffic

LIBREVILLE, April 1 (Infosplusgabon) – The general manager of the Société d’exploitation du transgabonais (SETRAG), Christian Magni, wanted to be reassuring following the reception on March 4 of the rehabilitation works of the railway following the landslide of land occurred on December 24, 2022.

The SETRAG/ERAMET joint press release underlines that “Setrag announced the resumption of freight train traffic pending the conclusion of the tests of the structure with heavy trains to allow the circulation of passenger trains. The government having noted their reliability , has given its agreement for the resumption of passenger train traffic”.

It is a very smiling general manager whom the men of the media met when getting off the train at the Owendo Virié railway station. Christian Magni, who had taken place in the Omnibus train n° 433 coming from Franceville at the Lastourville railway station a few hours before. A way for him to launch the effective resumption of passenger trains on Thursday March 30 as indicated in the press release.

Speaking on the quality of the work carried out, in addition to the length of 900 meters which has been rebuilt, the reliability and solidity of the track are a given. And the general manager continues: “The case of landslide is not specific to our railway, the rainfall and the earthquake recorded in this part of the territory contributed to this situation. A situation that we have cleaned up like others and are monitoring from the cameras that we have installed to follow the evolution in real time”.

Very delighted to have regained the vitality of his working tool, the managing director of Setrag renewed his gratitude to the Gabonese authorities, to the Eramet group, of which Setrag is a subsidiary via Comilog, and to all the partners who have contributed the restoration of the track which allowed the resumption of traffic in the best conditions of safety and durability.

Towards his teams and Comilog, Christian Magni said he was particularly grateful for the great mobilization which enabled the reconnection of the various provinces of the country, not without recognizing and acknowledging the patience and the renewed confidence of the users of the trains of travellers.
