The man who was stabbed in a cemetery in Oslo is not injured in a life-threatening manner

– We have not received an update from the healthcare system, but we know that the man has suffered serious injuries. From my understanding, however, there is no question of life-threatening injuries, says crime leader Morten Karlhagen of the Oslo police to NTB on Thursday morning.

The man was admitted to hospital with serious injuries following being stabbed near the church in the cemetery at 9pm on Wednesday evening. He was conscious when he was picked up by the ambulance.

At 9.30 on Thursday morning, there were still no arrests in the case.

– No one has been arrested and we are working with the information we have regarding the incident. Information indicates that it is a matter of one perpetrator, but we do not yet know whether others have participated or contributed in other ways, says Karlhagen.

He emphasizes that the police do not believe it is a random attack.

– We have the impression that it is not a purely random attack, and that the two have met in advance. But what triggered the violent incident, we do not yet have certain answers. The motive will be an important part of the work going forward, and something we want to shed more light on through questioning of the victim and possibly of the suspect, says the crime leader.
