The 21-year-old motorist who deliberately knocked down a 67-year-old cyclist overnight from Friday to Saturday in Roeselare was presented to an investigating judge on Saturday. He was placed under arrest warrant for attempted murder. A psychiatrist will be appointed to carry out an expertise. The events date back to Friday, around 6:00 p.m., in Roeselare. A young motorist deliberately mowed down a cyclist to get him off the road. He then fled by car. A witness filmed the scene and the suspect’s father-in-law called the police soon following.
The driver said he was angry with the world and wanted to do something regarding the overcrowding problem. He tested positive for drugs. The victim was briefly in critical condition but his life is no longer in danger, prosecutors said on Saturday.
