The majority of Belgians are not ready to buy an electric vehicle: “The price of energy is a real obstacle”

2035. This is the date on which new cars with a combustion engine can no longer be sold in the European Union. According to a study, 64% of Belgians believe that this is not realistic. The most reluctant: the over 55s. “It’s a question of habit, but also of money“, explains Xavier Van Caneghem, spokesperson for Europ Assistance.

He keeps on: “The news still has a big impact on people’s responses to their desire to buy an electric vehicle. This year, for example, the price of energy is a real obstacle.

Half of the Belgians questioned cannot imagine living without a car. However, they are only four out of ten to want to opt for an electric vehicle during their next purchase.
