On the occasion of World Press Briefing orchestrated this week in anticipation of the next edition of the Summer Games, the Paris 2024 Organizing Committee (COJO) announced the opening of the Main Press Center – Main Press Center (MPC) in its English name – as of July 9, 2024.

In the summer of 2024, no less than 25,000 journalists and media technicians from around the world will be called upon to cover on site the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Also, to meet the logistical requirements of such an armada, the organizers of the Games chose to mobilize two distinct locations to, on the one hand, accommodate the International Radio-Television Center (CIRTV or IBC) and on the other hand, receive the Main Press Center.

Although the two structures were initially to be found within the Parc des Expositions du Bourget (Seine-Saint-Denis), a new map was nevertheless adopted last year, taking into account the delays announced in the delivery of lines 17 and 18 of Grand Paris Express which were to connect the capital to the epicenter of media coverage in Seine-Saint-Denis.

From then on, while the CIRTV (IBC) was maintained on the site of Hall 3 of the Parc des Expositions du Bourget, the CPP (MPC) was relocated to the Palais des Congrès, in the 17th arrondissement of Paris .

This decision was not taken at random, Porte Maillot being ideally connected to the Ile-de-France transport network, and also being the area where members of the Olympic Family will be staying during the Games.

With a view to the global event, initial elements were provided this week to the media present as part of the World Press Briefing.

In fact, the COJO announced the opening of the Porte Maillot MPC for July 9, 2024, less than three weeks before the opening of the Olympic Games in the heart of the “City of Lights”.

The opening of the site – managed by VIPARISOfficial Supporter of the Games – will be done in two stages, with first a role-playing 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. from July 9 to 20, 2024and then uninterrupted access from July 20 to August 12, 2024i.e. the day after the Closing Ceremony of the Games.

In detail, the Main Press Center will occupy levels 1, 2 and 3 of the Palais des Congrès, with the lower levels remaining accessible to the public. No less than 22,000 m² should be mobilized for the occasion, including 4,500 m² for the installation of private offices. The layout of the site during the Games – fully connected to the WiFi – will also provide four press conference rooms which, for the record, will be named in the name of French rivers.

Concerning the various amenities, the journalists present will have the possibility of having deliveries on site, while having access to three restaurants and two cafes, with also a supermarket, a pharmacy and a laundry service.

For the Paralympic meeting, the MPC will however migrate to the other side of the ring road, since it will take up residence in the premises of the Olympic Aquatic Center in Saint-Denis, opposite the Stade de France.

The new sports venue – currently under construction – will host synchronized swimming and diving events, as well as the preliminary water polo tournament during the Olympic Games, but will not host any competitions included in the Paralympic Games program.
