The main GP union votes against the new consultation rates

The proposal provides that all medical consultations would be increased by 1.50 euro. For general practitioners, this unconditional revaluation would bring the basic consultation to 26.50 euros, once morest 25 euros since 2017.

The main union of general practitioners, MG France, announced this Sunday evening that it had voted unanimously once morest the new consultation rates proposed by the Social Security, which conditions this possible increase on the commitment to greater activity.

The six unions of representative doctors have until Tuesday to say whether or not they accept the new price list for consultations and other packages proposed by Social Security for five years.

“There was 98% participation and 100% said no to the signature. A unanimous negative vote” which “must be likely to make politicians think,” said Agnès during a press conference. Giannotti, the president of MG France, the largest GP union.

Consultation at 26.50 euros

The proposal of the Cnam (National Health Insurance Fund), provides that all medical consultations would be revalued by 1.50 euro. For general practitioners, this unconditional revaluation would bring the basic consultation to 26.50 euros, once morest 25 euros since 2017.

Practitioners agreeing to make “territorial commitments” (taking more patients, participation in guards, exercise in medical deserts, etc.) would obtain a higher consultation rate, at 30 euros for example for general practitioners.

But the question of the tariff was “marginal” in the outcome of the vote, assured Agnès Giannotti, explaining that the general practitioners suffer above all from a “lack of recognition”.

“To say that we have to get involved means that we don’t do it and that is absolutely inaudible for the profession,” she added.

“Proudly take responsibility for this decision”

With this rejection of the majority union of general practitioners, the draft agreement supported by the government is on the verge of falling through and MG France is already planning to return to the negotiating table only “within two years”, following the establishment of arbitration rules to prepare a new fee schedule.

“MG France proudly assumes responsibility for this decision and measures its seriousness, since it prohibits the conclusion of a medical agreement for all specialties”, added the union in a press release.

The Ministry of Health invited a press briefing dedicated to this subject on Monday mid-morning.
