The Magnificent Waterfalls of Coo: A Must-See Natural Wonder in Belgium

2024-01-07 12:20:57

The cold did not prevent tourists from discovering the Coo waterfall this weekend. It is located in the east of Belgium, near Stavelot. A waterfall swollen by the rains of recent days…

It is one of the most astonishing natural attractions: tens of cubic meters of water fall every second at the foot of the rocks, over the 15 meters of difference in height that makes up the Coo waterfall. Day tourists would never want to miss such a spectacle. “It’s very impressive because there is a lot of water. It’s magnificent to see nature like that, it’s incredible”exclaims a tourist. “I saw Victoria Falls, I saw Niagara Falls and that’s what impressed me there. Here, it’s the first time I’ve had this experience in Belgium”said another.

An even more striking pressure a few centimeters from the edge. The ideal place to immortalize photos of the raging Amblève, despite the imposing projection of the spray blown by the wind. “It’s a very romantic place, we love nature. This is the place to be”reacts a couple. “At least we know where we are.”jokes a tourist. “It’s touristy, it brings people, etc. And it’s always pretty, it’s a beautiful place”adds a third person who came to see the Coo waterfall.

This is a real boon for the hospitality sector, which is seeing an increase in tourist numbers. “It still attracts quite a few people because the flow is quite strong at the moment. People come to take photos to put on Instagram, share on Facebook… And to come see the show”notes David Royen, manager of a hotel-restaurant.

This extension of attendance comes at the right time because, from Monday, hotels and restaurants in the region will end their season.
