The accident occurred on Friday at approximately 1:00 p.m. at the airport in Gdynia Babie Doły. On board the Bielik, an M-346 Master trainer aircraft, was Maj. pilot Robert “Killer” Jeł, who was preparing for a show scheduled for Saturday at the Gdynia airport to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Gdynia Naval Aviation Brigade.

– The pilot, a major who was the deputy commander of the air squadron, died on the spot. He did not attempt to eject – said Air Force Inspector Maj. Gen. Pilot Ireneusz Nowak at a conference convened at the Tactical Air Base in Łask.

Due to the plane crash, the celebrations of the 30th anniversary of the Gdynia Naval Aviation Brigade scheduled for Saturday were canceled.

– Today, at the airport of the 43rd Naval Aviation Base in Gdynia Babie Doły, during a training flight for the 30th anniversary of the Gdynia Naval Aviation Brigade, an aircraft M-346 crashed. A rescue operation is underway. All events related to tomorrow’s celebrations are canceled – the Gdynia Naval Aviation Brigade announced on social media on Friday.
