Available since yesterday, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum received a very bad reception from players and the press, prompting his studio to comment on the state of the game.
Le studio s’excuse
In a message posted on
TwitterDaedalic Entertainment begins by apologizing and affirms to recognize and regret that the game does not meet the expectations of the studio and the community:
Dear Players, We would like to sincerely apologize for the lackluster experience many of you had with The Lord of the Ring: Gollum upon release. We acknowledge and deeply regret that the game did not meet the expectations we set for ourselves or our dedicated community. Please accept our sincere apologies for any disappointment this may have caused.
Our goal as a studio, and as avid Lord of the Rings fans, has always been to tell an exciting and immersive story-driven adventure. Crafting a story with Middle-earth as our playground has been the greatest honor – and the biggest challenge we’ve had to face so far.
The game suffers from numerous bugs, rather poor performance, especially on PC, and also from a graphics part judged to be well below that proposed during the promotion of the title.
Updates are in preparation
For its part, the studio claims to listen to feedback carefully, and promises fixes to improve the situation:
At Daedalic, we know that the success of a game depends on the pleasure and satisfaction of its players. We value your feedback and have actively listened to your voices, read your comments and analyzed the constructive criticism and suggestions you have given us. Our development team has worked diligently to resolve bugs and technical issues that many of you have encountered.
We are committed to providing you with fixes that will allow you to fully enjoy the game. Once once more, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused and we thank you for your understanding during this period.
We will continue to update you on our progress and communicate transparently regarding upcoming fixes and improvements. Your passion and dedication as players has been the driving force behind our determination to turn things around.
The studio concluded its message by thanking the community for its support, and now we just have to wait until the first updates arrive, while we learned today that the studio would already be working on a new Lord of the Rings game.
Remember that The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S while a Nintendo Switch version is expected later this year.
