The local prison of Oued Laou celebrates its best inmates in studies and training

The administration of the local prison of Oued Laou celebrated, on Thursday, its prisoners, pupils and students of the various sectors and cycles, on the occasion of the end of the school and formative year 2021-2022.

This celebration, which was attended by representatives of local authorities, elected officials and civil and association personalities, is part of the policy of the General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration (DGAPR), aimed at encourage prisoners to actively adhere to the various education and training programs dedicated to them at prison level.

This event also aims to facilitate the integration of detainees into society following their release, by encouraging them to take advantage of this period to obtain scientific and technical diplomas which will facilitate their reintegration.

It should be noted that the success rate has reached 100% in primary, college and in the gardening and distillation sector, thanks to the support programs developed in cooperation between the administration of the local prison and the associative actors working in the field of education, which enabled these prisoners, attached to continue their education and training, to pass the exams.

This ceremony was marked by the projection of a video clip on the various cultural, sporting and social activities organized during the current year. In addition, the prisoners were able to demonstrate their artistic talents by presenting a high-quality theatrical piece entitled “Lehrig”, in addition to reading poems of their own creation.

In a statement to M24, the continuous news channel of MAP, Adil Fati, director of the local prison of Oued Laou, stressed that this ceremony comes at the end of the school and formative year, with a view to crowning the all the cultural and training activities and programs that were implemented throughout the year.

In this regard, Mr. Fati pointed out that the assessment of this school year resulted in a total of 50 inmates benefiting from the gardening and distillation sector and the medicinal herbs production sector, with 25 inmates each, in more than 7 detainees in the college cycle and two in the primary cycle. All of these detainees passed their exams.

The director added that in addition to educational programs, 50% of the prison population of Oued Laou prison have benefited from education and training programs, in particular through programs to combat illiteracy and apprenticeship. and memorization of the Holy Quran.

And as part of the humanization of prisons, the establishment has taken care to organize music, drawing and theater workshops, in addition to cultural and sporting events, to develop the talents of prisoners, develop their knowledge and capacities and enhance this period of detention in order to achieve the ultimate goal, namely qualification for reintegration following release.
