Differences with the original project

The original “Omnibus” law sent by Javier Milei at the beginning of his administration, baptized “Law of bases and starting points for the freedom of Argentines”, iincluded among its 664 articles a specific chapter referring to the privatizations of state companies and companies wholly or majority owned in the hands of the State.

At that time, it included a total of 41 firms and organizations, among which stood out YPF, Aerolíneas Argentinas, AYSA, Correo Argentino, Banco de la Nación Argentina (BNA), Energía Argentina SA (IESA), Operadora Ferroviaria, Radio y Televisión Argentina (RTA), and Corredores Vialesamong other.

According to Infobae’s survey, the vast majority of those mentioned are loss-making, but others made profits in 2022, as is the case of the state oil company or the BNA. The General Administration of Ports, Argentine Nuclear Power, Dionisio Water Mining Deposits (YMAD), New Generation Space Vehicle, North Dock Naval Workshops (TANDANOR) and Agricultural Technological Innovations, according to the Libertad Foundation.
