The conclusion of a very good regular season
By winning this evening, the LHC officially validates its third place in the National League standings and will therefore face HC Davos in the playoffs. Best regular season in the club’s history from an accounting point of view (91 points scored), Geoff Ward’s men showed seriousness and self-sacrifice throughout the year to climb among the great teams of National League.
Uncompromising in their lair of the Vaudoise Aréna, the Vaudois players were the most successful team in front of their home crowd with 58 points scored in the 26 matches played in Lausanne. An efficiency that bodes well before the playoffs which will begin on Sunday March 17 at 8 p.m. at the Vaudoise Aréna.
The efficiency of the Salomäki – Fuchs – Riat line
Aligned together for the first time this season, Miikka Salomäki (1 goal and 2 assists), Jason Fuchs (1 goal and 1 assist) and Damien Riat (1 goal and 2 assists) did not need much time to find their marks. The three Vaudois attackers alone dominated the second third by completing almost all their attempts on the opposing goal.
With a three-goal lead at mid-match, the LHC calmly controlled the rest of the match, without being really worried by EV Zug struggling in the offensive animation (only 11 shots on target this evening). History will remember that it was Théo Rochette who scored the last goal in the regular season on a pass from Antti Suomela to the delight of LHC lovers.
